About this camp

The Miami Dade College Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) is a five-week paid internship program designed for high school students to gain real-world work experience and explore various career paths. Participants are placed in diverse industries, including STEM fields like computer information systems, engineering, and biology, as well as business, hospitality, and public service. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, allowing students to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting, develop essential workplace skills, and make valuable professional connections. Students are assigned both a worksite supervisor and a teacher supervisor who provides academic assignments related to their internship experience. Successful completion of the program earns students high school academic credit, and many are also eligible to receive dual enrollment college credit through Miami Dade College. The SYIP aims to clarify career goals, build confidence, and prepare students for both college and future careers.
