About this camp

The AI-ReHaB (Artificial Intelligence-Driven Resilient Health and Biological Systems) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at Florida International University offers a 10-week summer research opportunity for undergraduate students and high school graduates (18+). Participants engage in hands-on research focused on integrating AI technologies into sensing systems for resilient health and biological systems. Students work on independent projects with faculty and graduate mentors, culminating in a presentation at the REU Symposium. The program emphasizes developing AI knowledge in healthcare-related fields, leveraging sensing, machine learning algorithms, and biomedical techniques. Professional development is fostered through cohort sessions, literature review seminars, guest speakers, practice presentations, career panels, and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Students gain skills in research design, data analysis, and scientific communication, preparing them for future academic or industry careers in STEM. The program aims to build the workforce needed for the urgent adoption of innovative biomonitoring systems.
