Students earn six college credits while engaging in a rigorous, studio-based curriculum that integrates AI as a creative design tool, all within the vibrant architectural context of Miami.
The University of Miami Summer Scholars - Explorations in Architecture, Urbanism & AI is an intensive, studio-based, three-week program designed for high school and early college students. It introduces participants to the core principles and methods of architecture and urbanism, mirroring the University of Miami School of Architecture's undergraduate curriculum. Students engage in hands-on design work, exploring architecture at various scales from buildings to cities. The curriculum covers urban and landscape design, sustainability, resilience, architectural history, and digital representation, emphasizing the relationship between built and natural environments. Artificial intelligence (AI) is integrated throughout the design process to support concept development, exploration, and visualization. Students will develop observation and representation skills through freehand drawing, digital drawing, 3D modeling, and fabrication, culminating in a digital portfolio of their work. The program also includes lectures by faculty and guest professionals, as well as local excursions to significant architectural and urban design landmarks in Miami.
Classes are held daily, Monday through Friday, with a morning session from 8:10 AM to 11:40 AM and an afternoon session from 1:10 PM to 4:40 PM.
This program is ideal for high school sophomores and juniors who are self-motivated, interested in architecture and design, and eager to earn college credit while experiencing university life.
