About this camp

At Moonlighter FabLab's Summer S.T.E.A.M. Maker Camp, children become makers by engaging in hands-on design, engineering, and craft activities. The program is structured around different weekly themes, allowing campers to build new technical skills and immediately apply them to exciting, real-world design challenges. Through projects using real tools and materials—including cutting, building, assembling, prototyping, and experimenting—students strengthen fine and gross motor skills while exploring engineering, art, and innovation. Campers will gain confidence and capability as problem-solvers, collaborators, and creators, learning how ideas transform into tangible creations using technology and creativity. Activities involve 3D printing, laser cutting, robotics, electronics, and design thinking.

Students will explore how people throughout history designed tools, games, equipment, and inventions through creativity and problem-solving. They will experiment with both historic and modern techniques, such as sculpting ceramics, carving artifacts, building functional parts, and fabricating moving mechanisms with laser cutters and 3D printers. The camp aims to inspire young innovators and train the next generation through weekly hands-on challenges, such as designing architecture on Mars or creating superhero gadgets.
